Tots don caps and gowns to graduate from nursery

An Ofsted outstanding nursery chain in Telford has said goodbye to 116 children during emotional ceremonies as they graduate from nursery.

The four ABC Day Nursery sites across the town of Telford waved off their school leavers this week, with parents, siblings, grandparents and friends watching on with happy tears in their eyes as the little ones proudly wore their caps and gowns to graduate from nursery.

ABC Hadley, Hoo, Hollinswood and Lightmoor each held their own ceremony for the four- and five-year-olds who are leaving the nursery settings to start school this September, something which has become an annual tradition.

Owner of ABC Day Nursery Penny Hustwick said: “We are so proud of all of our children at ABC and want to recognise the huge step of leaving nursery and starting school.

“That’s why we invite family and friends in to join us in congratulating the children on all their achievements. The little ones are always so proud to wear their caps and gowns – and it’s a lifelong memory for their parents and carers too!

“Graduation is always an emotional time for not just the families, but the staff too; many of our children have been with us since they were months old and we have watched them grow from tiny babies into confident children.”

Penny added that herself and the ABC Day Nursery staff wished all of the children well and would love to hear from families about how they are getting on at school.

“We have been celebrating our 25th anniversary this year so are now starting to hear from our original children that they are graduating from university! Once you join ABC, you’re always part of the family so we always enjoy hearing what our school leavers get up to in the months and years after graduation.”
