Sport Relief – ABC gets involved

Did you see our Hadley children featuring in the Shropshire Star?

Children attending our ABC Day Nursery settings across Telford have been channelling their inner sporting hero to raise money for a great cause… Sport Relief!

The little ones at the four Ofsted outstanding ABC Day Nurseries in Telford have taken part in various activities in aid of Sport Relief.

At ABC Hadley the children hosted a cake sale on Friday (March 23) and dressed up as their favourite sports stars.

The children and staff at ABC Lightmoor were invited to dress in kits representing their favourite sports team, or in general exercise clothes on Tuesday (March 20) in return for a donation to the Sport Relief charity.

Everyone at ABC Hollinswood took part in a Welly Waddle on Friday (March 23), with loved ones sponsoring the children.

At all four nurseries, including ABC Hoo, there was a focus on sporting activities and getting the children moving in new and unusual ways… from dancing to classic games.

Ideas included practising their disco moves on the dancefloor, going on nature walks and playing What’s The Time, Mr Wolf?

Staff also took the opportunity to promote healthy eating and the importance of getting their ‘five a day’ of fruit and vegetables.

Owner Penny Hustwick said: “The children have absolutely loved getting involved in this year’s Sport Relief and, while we promote getting active every week of the year, it’s been great to come up with some new ideas and really focus on how to get every child moving – from our tiny babies to our toddlers and preschoolers.

“I’m grateful to the staff at all four nurseries for their hard work in putting on a fantastic week of activities and raising money for such a great charity. And, as ever, thank you to our ABC parents for their support in donating, buying cakes and dressing their little ones up.”
