Telford Nursery Retains Outstanding Ofsted Rating
A Telford nursery has retained its top Ofsted rating following its first inspection under the regulator’s new and tougher criteria.
ABC Hollinswood was once again awarded the ‘outstanding’ rating following an inspection in January(2014).
It comes just weeks after ABC Hoo Farm also achieved an ‘outstanding’ rating following its very first inspection.
Owner Penny Hustwick, who also owns another two nurseries in the town, said she was ‘over the moon’ with the result and that it was fitting recognition of the hard work and dedication of her staff.
“We were absolutely delighted that ABC Hollinswood retained its ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted and it really is a reflection of our dedicated and enthusiastic staff,” said Mrs Hustwick.
“There have already been examples across the country of nurseries and schools that had previously been rated ‘good’ or even ‘outstanding’ dropping to the new ‘requires improvement’ rating, which has replaced the old ‘satisfactory’ level.
“Our ethos has always been to do our very best for every single child in our care. We have an amazing team and I am over the moon that their hard work and commitment has been recognised in this way.
“To have the first two of our nurseries inspected under the new criteria both achieve ‘outstanding’ has been the best possible start we could have to 2014.”
Inspectors praised the nursery’s high quality of teaching, caring nature of staff and strong leadership and management skills. Their report also recognises the “excellent working relationships” staff have with parents.
It said: “Leadership within the nursery is extremely strong with both the owner and managers having high aspirations for quality and the ongoing development of the service.
“Children have extremely secure bonds with the staff, which builds their self-esteem, confidence and emotional security. Staff are very effective role models of behaviour and treat children with extreme kindness and respect.”
ABC Hollinswood first opened in August 2004, eleven years after the first ABC nursery was opened by Mrs Hustwick at Wrockwardine in 1993. This was followed by ABC Hadley in 2007 and ABC Lightmoor in 2012. Wrockwardine has since closed and was replaced by ABC @ Hoo in 2013.
