Lightmoor Day Nursery
Rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ by Ofsted
Our Lightmoor nursery is in the heart of the community in Lightmoor Village and opened in September 2012, providing high quality full and part time day care, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year from 7.30am to 6.00pm.
Our Aims are:
- To make sure that the environment of the nursery and home complement each other and not replace one another
- To provide a stable and stimulating environment
- Create a homely atmosphere
- Give the children the opportunity to develop through exploration and discovery
- Offer an all round curriculum to enable us to provide the foundations for the children to go to school
Our Objectives are:
To create an atmosphere and environment where children feel relaxed, safe, warm and loved. Where they will learn and develop through playing and sharing.
The nursery is divided into four sections:
- ‘Starfish’ – for children aged 3 months to 2 years
- ‘Seahorses’ – for children aged 2 years to 3 years
- ‘Dolphins’ – for children aged 3 years to 5 years
- We also provide After school, Breakfast and Holiday club – for children aged 5 years to 11 years
The nursery is on two levels. On the ground level, we have Starfish, Seahorses and Dolphins. Upstairs we have the Breakfast and After School room along with our Head Office. Access to the upstairs is either by staircase or by a platform lift. The nursery has under floor heating throughout the building.
Starfish (baby) room
Is a large open room, which is self contained. It has a milk kitchen area, Nappy changing room and sleep area. The babies have a large carpeted area, which is divided into several areas and a messy area, which also doubles up to where they have their meals. The baby room has several large windows, which provides natural daylight.
Seahorses (toddler) room
The toddlers are also in a self-contained room, with their own toilets and changing facilities. They also have a small shower for the children. The room has a carpeted area and a messy area. The toddlers have their own door, which leads to a play area. This area has no fixed equipment; we put this out on a daily basis. It also means the children have many opportunities to play inside outside all day long. Pair of double doors lead into the pre-school room, which provides us with opportunities where we can open them up and the children, can play together.
Dolphins (pre-school) room
This room has large windows down both sides, which brings in lots of natural light all day. In addition, we have large double doors down one side, which enables us to open these up and provide an indoor/outdoor learning environment. There is no fixed equipment outside; this is put out on a daily basis. Indoors the room has lots of learning opportunities with writing and maths area, a messy area and a role play area which changes on a regular basis form a home corner to a pet shop etc.
All children at the nursery make full use of the children’s playing field opposite the nursery. Staff will take children here to play large ball games and use some of the play equipment with full supervision.
We also do Forest school with the pre-school children. A member of our staff is level 3 qualified in forest school. We have a fabulous woodland area only a five-minute walk from the nursery, which has a special area where the children can carry out activities. This is a fabulous experience for all our children.
ABC Lightmoor also operates a Breakfast and After School club for children who attend Lightmoor Village Primary School. During school holidays we operate a holiday club which is open to all children.
ABC Day Nursery offers a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere for the children. All staff are experienced and qualified, which enables them to plan exciting and stimulating play based activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All children’s needs are provided for and the nursery offers excellent provision for children with special needs.
The nursery offers a full and varied menu, which changes throughout the year and special dietary requirements can be catered for.
We would highly recommend a visit to any of our nurseries where you will be welcomed and given a guided tour of the setting.
We pride ourselves in providing high quality childcare, with a well qualified and professional team.
