ABC Day Nursery Hoo Telford retained Ofsted Outstanding in 2019
Our Aims are:
To make sure that the environment of the nursery and home complement each other and not replace one another
To provide a stable and stimulating environment
Create a homely atmosphere
Give the children the opportunity to develop through exploration and discovery
Offer an all round curriculum to enable us to provide the foundations for the children to go to school
Our Objectives are:
To create an atmosphere and environment where children feel relaxed, safe, warm and loved. Where they will learn and develop through playing and sharing.
The nursery is divided into three sections:
‘Ducklings’ – for children aged 3 months to 2 years
‘Lambs’ – for children aged 2 years to 3 years
‘Farm Hands’ – for children aged 3 years to 5 years
All the nursery rooms are along the back of the building, with the entrance, office, store room etc being on the front of the building.
The building is totally secure with a biometric finger system, we also have CCTV on the outside of the building so we can see who is approaching the front door.
Ducklings (Babies)
Our baby room is self contained. It has one large area which is split into two. Half is carpeted leading onto a messy area, which is used for art and craft activities and also becomes our feeding area.
Within the room it has a milk kitchen, nappy changing area and a sleep room.
This room has lots of natural daylight. The baby room is on the back of the building and has its own door leading straight to the outside area, which is secure.
Lambs (toddlers)
The toddler area is split into two sections, half carpeted for floor activities, with an area sectioned off for stories and singing. They also have a large messy area for sand and water play, art and craft. This area also becomes their eating area at meal times.
The toddlers have access to the toilets direct from their room, with also nappy changing facilities for the younger ones.
Toddlers have access to the outdoor play area direct from their room.
Farm Hands (pre-school)
Farm Hands are at the end of the building in a very large room. This room has lots of windows which allows natural daylight in.
Their room is again split into two, one large carpeted area and a messy area. Within the carpeted area, this is divided into several learning areas, for example a maths and writing area, a role play area which changes on a regular basis from being a home corner to a post office. Farm Hands have indoor outdoor activities all day long.
We also have a sensory room within the nursery, which is used by all children. On the floor we have soft play mats, also within this room we have a bubble tube, rope lights etc we also have a variety of treasure baskets for holistic play.
Outside
Our outside area is very natural, we have no fixed equipment. This area is for children to develop and enhance their imaginations from digging for treasure to going on a bear hunt! We also have our access to Hoo Farm and the children will visit the animals on a regular basis, which for the older children can be a great way of learning, for example going on a number hunt ! The children also get to see farm activities like the Farrier coming to re shoe the horses, we believe these to be fantastic learning opportunities.
A member of the staff is also level 3 qualified in Forest school, so the older children get the opportunity of going into the woods and building dens, searching for bugs and cooking on an open fire.
ABC Day Nursery offers a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere for the children. All staff are experienced and qualified, which enables them to plan exciting and stimulating play based activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All children’s needs are provided for and the nursery offers excellent provision for children with special needs.
The nursery offers a full and varied menu, which changes throughout the year and special dietary requirements can be catered for.
We would highly recommend a visit to any of our nurseries where you will be welcomed and given a guided tour of the setting.
We pride ourselves in providing high quality childcare, with a well qualified and professional team.
We are open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.00pm.
We only close for a week at Christmas and all Public Holidays.

Testimonials
“As parents we feel extremely fortunate to have found such a wonderful nursery for our boys and we are confident they will continue to have a very enjoyable pre-school experience. We can already see them growing and developing into confident, sociable, independent little boys as a result of their time at Hoo. We are not at all surprised Hoo was rated outstanding by Ofsted inspectors recently. It is a truly wonderful nursery with truly inspirational staff.”
“I love being able to look through my daughters learning journey in detail and appreciate the time and effort that goes into it. Staff seem to have an excellent knowledge of my child’s interests and progression. The setting is perfect for my daughter as she loves the outdoors and being around the animals. Everyone always seems to be having so much fun. Nothing is ever too much trouble.”
