Our Aims are:
- To make sure that the environment of the nursery and home complement each other and not replace one another
- To provide a stable and stimulating environment
- Create a homely atmosphere
- Give the children the opportunity to develop through exploration and discovery
- Offer an all round curriculum to enable us to provide the foundations for the children to go to school
Our Objectives are:
To create an atmosphere and environment where children feel relaxed, safe, warm and loved. Where they will learn and develop through playing and sharing.
The nursery is divided into three sections:
- ‘Starfish’ – for children aged 3 months to 2 years
- ‘Seahorses’ – for children aged 2 years to 3 years
- ‘Dolphins’ – for children aged 3 years to 5 years
All children are assigned to a key person who will be responsible for producing their learning journeys and development records. These are available for parents/carers to read at anytime, and they are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning journey by bringing work they have done at home, or sharing information on the activities they enjoy at home.
The information in the learning journeys is used by the key person to plan interesting and stimulating activities for the children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); activities are always play based ensuring children have fun.
Security: – The safety of your child is paramount to ABC Day Nursery Hollinswood. We have installed a Biometric Entry System, which will take a reading of your thumb or finger. This ensures that only designated people have access to our nursery.
The staff in the room enable children to learn by providing a language rich environment, which allows all children to develop at their own unique level and pace. This also benefits the acquisition of English for those children who have English as an additional language.
The children have use of the outside play area as well as the school hall, making it possible for them to experience a wide range of activities such as football and dance. There is a large playground with a fixed climbing frame, balance beam and plenty of space for the children
PRE-SCHOOL ( Dolphins )
The pre-school room is registered to provide nursery education which is achieved through many different areas such as role play and adult led activities, to encourage learning through play and discovery. The room has a large carpeted area as well as an area for messy activities.
The children have access to a computer, role play area, mats, cosy area as well as easily accessible equipment for them to choose and play with. There are tables for writing and other activities making this room exciting and practical.
The pre-school works in conjunction with the adjoined school nursery, ensuring information is shared and that the transition between nursery and the school is carried out smoothly for the children.
The toddler area is a large bright inviting room, divided into two areas.
One section is carpeted throughout and facilitates imaginative play and exploration using equipment and activities provided by the staff and chosen by the children. This area is also used for sleep time and quiet activities.
The other section provides an area for messy activities, along with sand and water play. This area is also used at meal times.
The children also have access to an outdoor play area that is used for a variety of activities as well as walks in the surrounding vicinity.
BABIES ( Starfish)
The baby room is a self contained area, which is bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. There is a sleep area, which has cots and sleep mats. All children have their own bedding.
Within the room is a large area for messy activities alongside a carpeted area which is used for exploring equipment, treasure baskets and socialising with staff and the other children. The babies also have a separate feeding area and changing facilities.
This club give the children time to do homework, use computers, socialise, play games and take part in craft activities. The children are provided with a high tea to tide them over until they get home.
ABC Day Nursery offers a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere for the children. All staff are experienced and qualified, which enables them to plan exciting and stimulating play based activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All children’s needs are provided for and the nursery offers excellent provision for children with special needs.
The nursery offers a full and varied menu, which changes throughout the year and special dietary requirements can be catered for.
We would highly recommend a visit to any of our nurseries where you will be welcomed and given a guided tour of the setting.
