The Hadley Learning Community is a unique project for Telford & Wrekin and is a flagship nationally for schools of the future. ABC Day Nursery Hadley is proud to be part of this. The nursery caters for children aged 3 months to 5 years in a warm and friendly atmosphere run by experienced and qualified staff.

The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 7.45 a.m to 6.00 p.m for 51 weeks a year, closing for a week at Christmas and all Public holidays. All these dates are on the nursery calendar which is produced at the beginning of the year.

Our Aims are:

  • To make sure that the environment of the nursery and home complement each other and not replace one another
  • To provide a stable and stimulating environment
  • To create a homely atmosphere
  • To give all children the opportunity to develop through exploration and discovery
  • To offer an all round curriculum which will enable us to provide the foundations for the child’s future

Our Objectives are:

To create an atmosphere and environment where children feel relaxed, safe, warm and loved. Where they will learn and develop through playing and sharing, in an environment that is friendly and run by experienced qualified staff.

Here at ABC Day Nursery Hadley we feel that children of all ages learn best through play. This is reflected through our planning in all areas of the nursery, making sure that all children have the opportunity to develop stage/age appropriately.

The nursery is divided into three sections:

  • ‘Starfish’ – for children aged 3 months to 2 years
  • ‘Seahorses’ – for children aged 2 years to 3 years
  • ‘Dolphins’ – for children aged 3 years to 5 years

All children are assigned to a key person who will be responsible for producing their learning journeys and development records. These are available for parents/carers to read at anytime, and they are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning journey by bringing work they have done at home, or sharing information on the activities they enjoy at home.

The information in the learning journeys is used by the key person to plan interesting and stimulating activities for the children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); activities are always play based ensuring children have fun.

The staff in the room enable children to learn by providing a language rich environment, which allows all children to develop at their own unique level and pace. This also benefits the acquisition of English for those children who have English as an additional language.

PRE-SCHOOL ( Dolphins )

The pre-school room is registered to provide nursery education. Within our pre-school room we have a variety of different areas to encourage learning through play and discovery.

The room has a large carpeted area with under floor heating and a large area for art and messy activities.

Information technology also plays an important role within our pre-school; the children will have the opportunity to use computers and an interactive white board. All software will be age and stage appropriate for the children.

Within this area there are two doors leading to the outside play area, thus providing opportunities for the children to perform activities inside or out. This is in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

TODDLERS (Seahorses)

Our toddler area is carpeted with under floor heating for floor play and table top activities. It also provides a story corner, a home corner and an area reserved for sleep time. The children are provided with sleep mats and bedding which are stored in bags labeled with the child’s name on.
In addition, there is a large area with non-slip flooring which is used for art and craft activities and messy play. This area is also used for meal times.

Toddlers have their own door leading to an outside play area which is safe and secure. It provides a variety of outside play equipment and toys to cover all aspects of development as well as safety surfaces and grass for the children to play on.

Toilet facilities are also located within the toddler room, offering small toilets, changing facilities and potties for toilet training.

The main aim for toddlers is learning through play with language playing a very important role at this stage of their development: this is reflected within the planning.

BABIES ( Starfish)

Our baby room has two main areas consisting of:-

A large carpeted area, with under floor heating. The toys and equipment we provide are stimulating in order to encourage development and are checked and cleaned on a regular basis.

Leading from the carpeted area is a arch way which leads into a separate sleep area. Within this area we have cots, sleep mats and large cushions for the children to sleep on. We provide all bedding which is stored away in labeled bags. This is a lovely relaxing area as well. At sleep time you will hear classical music being played for the children.

We also have a messy area which is used for art and craft activities and is also used for meal times.

Large windows within the room gives the babies the opportunity to play in natural daylight.

The baby room has its own door leading to a secured outdoor play area. Our outside area is well equipped with a variety of equipment to enhance the children’s development; it also has safety surfaces and grass for the children to play on.

A milk kitchen and changing facilities are provided within the baby room.

Our outside area is very large, with some fixed equipment on safety surfaces. We have a variety of fixed and other equipment from sand, water, painting, bikes and tables and benches plus lots more. The children are encouraged to take equipment outside to cover all areas of learning.

ABC Day Nursery offers a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere for the children. All staff are experienced and qualified, which enables them to plan exciting and stimulating play based activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All children’s needs are provided for and the nursery offers excellent provision for children with special needs.

The nursery offers a full and varied menu, which changes throughout the year and special dietary requirements can be catered for.

We would highly recommend a visit to any of our nurseries where you will be welcomed and given a guided tour of the setting.

We pride ourselves in providing high quality childcare, with a well qualified and professional team.
