What have you got planned for Easter?Posted 9th April, 2019
Easter falls quite late this year – Sunday 21st April – which means that the much welcomed four-day weekend should also bring with it some good weather. What have you got planned for Easter?
What have you got planned for the four-day break? Maybe you’re lucky enough to be enjoying a fortnight in tropical climes while the kids are off school?
We know not everyone will have time off over Easter but if you’re able to get some time away from work there’s lots you can do locally without spending a fortune.
- Telford Town Park is always a great place to spend a few hours – or even a whole day. With lots of space for picnics, a great range of free equipment for every age group, and even a splash park area if it gets unseasonably hot – fingers crossed – it really is worth a visit. The nearby library often hosts activities and events in school holidays too.
- Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park also offers a host of free activities and equipment and yes we know you have to travel a bit but kids love a trip on a bus or train – it will keep them happy and entertained!
- We are fortunate to have the Ironbridge Gorge Museum on our doorstep with its many attractions. Entry into the museum areas is not free but with year long family passes available it can work out at good value for money. The little ones can experience life in a Victorian town, have a go at making ceramic tiles, try their hand at scientific experiments, and learn more about the history of their hometown.
- National Trust properties on the doorstep include Sunnycroft in Wellington, Attingham Park in Atcham, and Carding Mill Valley in Church Stretton. There is an entry fee into these places but annual family tickets are available at just £10 per month. Planned activities during school holidays include lots of sporting opportunities, adventure courses, bird-watching, wild rambles, fishing, and even star gazing.
Even if you spend a few days off sitting at home relaxing and enjoying the sunshine we hope you have a peaceful Easter break.
