Looking back on 2018 at ABC Day NurseryPosted 10th December, 2018
As we approach the end of the year we thought we’d take a minute to look back through 2018 which has held some memorable moments for us all here at ABC Day Nursery.
January marked the start of our 25th year, a huge milestone! Who would have thought when the first ABC Day Nursery opened up its doors in Wrockwardine in 1993 that we’d have four Ofsted outstanding sites 25 years later?
To mark the occasion, owner Penny drafted a special blog reflecting on ABC’s journey.
In February during the run up to World Book Day we took a look back through the archives and learned more about some of the books which would have been favourites for our parents and grandparents.
We hit the papers in March with our fantastic fundraising for Sport Relief while on the blog we helped prospective parents by sharing a dad’s perspective of choosing a nursery and weighing up the benefits of sending your child to nursery rather than different childcare options.
Royal Wedding fever hit the country in May and ABC was no exception as the children donned their best party outfits and crowns to mark the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with hosting celebration events at each site. On the blog it was time to talk about potty training and travelling with toddlers.
Lingotot have once again been teaching our children the basics of French and Spanish in 2018 so in June we shared the benefits of learning a second language as well as looking ahead to graduation and exploring how parents can get their child ready for school.
Then we revealed we’d be launching our ParentZone app to enable families to access information about their child’s development at the touch of a button.
As baby room parents got access to the app at the start of August (with toddler and pre-school rooms following later in the month), we published a handy guide to ParentZone.
September saw the start of the new academic year and we were delighted with the lovely comments by parents and children themselves now heading off to school. It’s always such a pleasure seeing their personalities develop at this fascinating age. Those new children joining us at the start of the new term found themselves fully immersed in the fun of nursery life – games, books, messy-play, outdoor adventures – we do it all!
We always try to do our bit for the local community at ABC, as well as supporting nationwide charity events. In October we joined together over cake, coffee and juice for the little ones to support Macmillan. Everyone was also invited to wear red for a special day – helping to fund a life-saving trip to America for local boy Zac Oliver.
We all got out our wellies and waterproofs and celebrated the introduction of Forest School along with a familiar face – Louise Cooper. The children love Forest school – make sure you get those wellies out over the Christmas break and enjoy the fresh air and muddy puddles.
Time marches on so quickly sometimes it catches us all by surprise.
In November we turned our thoughts to Christmas and planned exciting and fun activities for the children. We also welcomed photographers to our settings to capture your children as they play. The early days really can never be recreated and we love sharing your little ones’ joy as they explore the world around them at this wonderful age.
It was also Children In Need this month and we all had lots of fun – check out these pictures on our Facebook site.
Here we are in December with Christmas fast approaching, and as always we want to take the chance to say a massive thank you to you – all the wonderful parents and carers who choose ABC Day Nursery to care for your children. Your support and cooperation is invaluable in ensuring we can give each child the individual attention they need.
Just ahead of the Christmas break we thought it would be a useful opportunity to remind you of this – tips for a peaceful Christmas with children!
We wish you all a very happy, relaxing, fun-filled Christmas, and look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
