The baby area has a linoleum area that is used for meals and messy play such as foam, gloop and painting. There is a large carpeted area for play and exploration, with staff selecting varied equipment and resources for the children to use throughout the day.
The staff use observations to plan for the children’s next steps and development using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), each child has a learning journey that parents are encouraged to add to.
There is a large sleep area and, depending on the parents preference, cots or mats to sleep on, with each child having their own bedding. This area is in view of the staff at all times and ten minute checks are carried out on sleeping babies. The babies use the toddler play area outside for a variety of activities and also go on walks in the local vicinity.
